Energy
Work Energy
The work done is measured by determining the force applied and multiplied by total distance of the shot. The work is measured only in the time that I am in direct contact with the ball and actually physically moving it.
To the left is my work done calculation and is measured in newtons.
Power in Performance
Power is the rate at which work is done. To solve for the power of the shot you must first solve for the work done, and identify the total time taken for the ball to travel it's path. The power takes into account the amount of work done and the amount of time I was doing that work (only when in contact with the ball).
To the right is my power calculation and is measured in watts
Conservation of Energy
The law of conservation of energy states that...
1. Energy cannot be created nor destroyed , but only transferred from one form to another without any loss.
2. The total energy of any closed system always remains the same.
3. Energy can change from one form to another, but the total amount of energy always remains the same as long as the system is closed.
Gravitational Potential Energy and Kinetic Energy are both closed systems.
To the left is my conservation of energy calculation.
